13 Day 4WD Kimberley Camping Safari - Katherine
This camping safari stays in established campgrounds and is conducted by an experienced local guide. All meals are provided except breakfast on day 1 and dinner on day 13. All camping equipment and bedding is provided and tour includes camping fees, entry fees, cruises at Nitmiluk Gorge, Geike Gorge and Lake Argyle, a hands on cultural experience in Katherine and helicopter flights at Mitchell Falls and the Bungle Bungles.
Day 1- Pick up and drive to Nitmiluk Gorge for a 2 hour cruise and cultural experience. Day 2- Cross into WA, free time in Kununurra and the turn off onto the famous Gibb River road, for El Questro. View an Aboriginal art site and have a swim.Day 3- Early dip at Zebedee Springs. Walk and swim at El Questro Gorge. Day 4- Drive through the Pentecost River and view the Cockburn Ranges, visit an art site. Swim and birdwatch at Miners Pool and have a camp oven roast dinner.Day 5- North to King Edward River, view 2 art sites of of Gwion (Bradshaw) and Wandjana figures as well as a burial site. Swimming and birdwatching. Day 6- Full day Mitchell Falls, visiting Little and Big Mertens Falls, 2 rock art sites and swimming at Mitchell Falls. A short helicopter flight included. Day 7- South to Mt. Barnett Station and Manning Gorge, for swimming and time to relax.Day 8- Swim and explore beautiful Galvans Gorge and Bell Gorge. Day 9- Walk into Windjana Gorge. Drive to Tunnel Creek and explore. Geike Gorge cruise. Overnight at Fitzroy River Lodge campground.Day 10- Drive to Purnululu National park (Bungle Bungles) and explore Echidna Chasm. Day 11- Take a helicopter flight over the Bungle Bungles. Exploring Cathedral Gorge, Piccaniny lookout and Mini Palms. Day 12- North again to Lake Argyle, Australia's largest man- made lake, for a sunset cruise. Day 13- Cross the border into the NT and north to Darwin, arriving at approx 6pm and you will be dropped off at your accommodation.
